Community Saves Their Sacred Space, Reopening Wild Fig As A Worker Cooperative

At the beginning of September, Crystal Wilkinson and Ronald Davis announced that they would be selling The Wild Fig. Community members who have come to rely on the safe, sacred space Crystal and Ron have nurtured over the years came together to raise the money to purchase the store. As Kentucky’s only Black owned bookstore, we wanted to see the store remain a majority Black owned bookstore and continue to be a safe space to build community. We are in the process of re-opening The Fig while it is converted to a worker cooperative….stay tuned for updates.
